What Does Your Exit Map Look Like?

A successful business exit starts with knowing what you’ll need financially and what your company is truly worth. Building strong management, documenting your plan, evaluating future buyers, and preparing for unexpected events all help ensure you can exit on your terms.

Founded in 1956, E.L. Vining & Son brings nearly 75 years of experience in earthwork, DOT, utility, and landfill projects—services closely aligned with Sargent’s core capabilities. The Farmington office will remain open as Sargent’s Western Maine hub, with key Vining team members joining Sargent’s ESOP and continuing in leadership roles.

The second session of the Maine Legislature begins in January and is expected to focus on carried-over bills and budget adjustments. ABC Maine continues to monitor 9 active pieces of legislation and will remain engaged through our partnership with Dirigo Public Affairs. This session’s political balance — with no party holding a majority — sets the stage for a collaborative but cautious year in Augusta. ABC Maine’s Government Affairs Committee will resume meetings on December 3, 2025.

Starting in 2026, the Maine Bureau of Insurance will launch Fortify Maine, offering grants up to $15,000 to help homeowners upgrade to nationally recognized storm-resistant roofing standards.

Sargent Corporation Marks Historic Leadership Transition on 20-Year Anniversary of H.E. Sargent Acquisition

The Maine Legislature wrapped up their business last week ending a fury of activity that started in January. The Legislature heard hundreds of bills and dealt with serious budgetary issues impacting social programs, public infrastructure, and taxes – just to name a few. In the end, Democrats passed a partisan $11.7 billion biennial budget that leaves future services in doubt and little remaining for infrastructure investments. The Legislature also left the building without sending any bonding measures to the voters this November.
